Bengaluru: Housing and Minority Welfare Minister of Karnataka, Zameer Ahmed Khan, has issued a strong challenge to former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy following the latter's recent remarks regarding the Muslim community's support. Kumaraswamy, who expressed his dissatisfaction with the Muslim community's response to the JD(S), was dared by Minister Khan to reveal how he secured his victory in Channapatnam.

Speaking to reporters in the city, Minister Khan stated, "Let me tell you with my heart that if the Muslim community had not voted in Channapatnam, he would not have won."

He further challenged several other JD(S) leaders by mentioning their constituencies and asserting that the Muslim community's votes played a pivotal role in their victories. Minister Khan emphasized that the Muslim community's support significantly contributed to the JD(S) gaining 19 seats, which would have been considerably fewer without their backing.

Minister Khan expressed his disapproval of Kumaraswamy's recent alliance with the BJP, emphasizing that it contradicted the values and principles of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, who opposed the communal BJP. He accused Kumaraswamy of compromising on Gowda's philosophy for the sake of his political interests.

Bengaluru (PTI): A 16-year-old boy was killed after he was allegedly hit and run over by a private bus while crossing a road here on Friday, police said.

The deceased was identified as Varun, they said.

According to police, the accident occurred around 11:30 am on the Hennur–Bagalur main road.

The boy who crossing the road on foot when he was allegedly struck by the bus and came under its rear wheel, leading to his death on the spot.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

Following the incident, family members and locals staged a protest by blocking the Hennur–Bagalur road, resulting in heavy traffic congestion in the area.

The driver of the bus has been detained, and further legal action is being initiated, a senior police officer said, adding that an investigation is underway.
