Karnataka Rajya Vokkaligara Sangha on Thursday warned the Congress high command that it will fight vehemently if injustice happens to Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, who is aspiring to become CM.

Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar announced on Wednesday that the Karnataka government plans to reintroduce student elections in the state, which were banned in 1989 following incidents of violence.

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) has arrested a couple from Mysuru in connection with a major racket involving the sale of adulterated ghee under the Nandini brand. The couple, identified as Shivakumar and his wife Ramya, were allegedly running a high-tech illegal manufacturing unit in Tiruppur, Tamil Nadu.

Karnataka Minister Satish Jarkiholi on Wednesday said Chief Minister Siddramaiah has asked the Congress High Command to clear the air at the earliest on the issue of leadership change in the state.

With a section of Congress leaders pitching AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge for the chief minister post amid a "leadership tussle" in Karnataka, his son and Minister Priyank Kharge on Wednesday dismissed such calls as "irrelevant."
