Hampi: A 7th-century shrine of Lord Shiva in Hampi has banned bananas in its premises, stating that devotees tend to overfeed the temple elephant as well as litter the place of worship with banana peels.

A 24-year-old woman died of self-immolation at Kundalahalli in the city after her uncle allegedly blackmailed her with private photos and videos, police said on Thursday.

The Bengaluru Traffic Police have issued an advisory to ensure the smooth flow of traffic during the Republic Day Flower Show, organised by the Department of Horticulture. The show begins on Thursday and will run for 11 days.

In an incident from Virajpet in Kodagu district, a Kerala-based journalist, Rijaz, has claimed that police detained him without following legal procedures and subjected him to an investigation. Rijaz made these serious allegations on social media on Wednesday evening.
