Bengaluru: The Congress in Karnataka on Tuesday termed the consecration of Ram temple in Ayodhya a 'political event' and expressed scepticism about Prime Minister Narendra Modi's fast for 11 days ahead of the Prana Pratishtha' ceremony.

Bengaluru: On January 22, as the consecration ceremony and unveiling of the Ram Lalla idol took place in Ayodhya, the streets of Bengaluru's Jayanagar resonated with the chant "Kashi Mathura baaki hai" (Kashi and Mathura remain). While the celebrations were centered around temples, special prayers, and devotional songs, residents gathered for a live screening outside the Vinayaka temple in Jayanagar. Kannada actor Tara was present at the event.

EC publishes final electoral rolls 2024 for Karnataka with 5.37 crore voters

The Election Commission (EC) on Monday published the 2024 final electoral rolls for 224 constituencies of Karnataka with a total electorate of 5,37,85,815, the data shared by the office of the Chief Electoral Officer showed. According to the Draft Electoral Rolls-2024, the total number of general electors was 5,33,77,162, comprising 2,68,02,838 male electors, 2,65,69,428 female electors, and 4,896 other electors.
