New Delhi: The NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR) satellite is expected to be launched by 2022 as India and the US have decided to share Space Situational Awareness Information, which will catalyze efforts to create the conditions for a safe and sustainable space environment.
The two sides also expressed the intent to continue the India-US Space Dialogue as well as discussions on areas of potential space defense cooperation.
A joint statement, issued after the 2+2 strategic dialogue between Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and their US counterparts Secretary of States Michael R Pompeo and Secretary of Defense Mark T Esper, said, "...the ministers applauded the ongoing collaboration between Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and National Aeronautics and Space Administration, including on the NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR) satellite scheduled to be launched by 2022."
The space agencies of the two countries had signed an agreement in 2014 to conduct the joint NISAR mission to co-develop and launch a dual frequency synthetic aperture radar on an Earth observation satellite.
"The ministers also looked forward to sharing Space Situational Awareness information, which will catalyze efforts to create the conditions for a safe, stable, and sustainable space environment," it said.
The ministers welcomed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for Technical Cooperation in Earth Observation and Earth Sciences between the Ministry of Earth Sciences and the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the joint statement said.
The signing of MoU will be for developing a better understanding of the regional and global weather origins in the Indian Ocean and advancing common research goals in meteorology, oceanography, and management of living marine resources, it said.

New Delhi: Indian cricketer Pooja Vastrakar, known for her prowess in the women's cricket team, found herself in the midst of controversy after sharing a post on Instagram titled 'Vasooli Titans,' which appeared to mock Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, JP Nadda, and other BJP leaders. However, Vastrakar deleted the post as it began gaining traction on social media platforms.
Despite her efforts to remove the post, screenshots of the controversial content circulated widely across various social media channels, sparking a wave of reactions from netizens. Some interpreted the post as supportive of the Congress party, while others cautioned Vastrakar about potential repercussions on her career for sharing such content.
One user on X, @troller_Adi18, commented, "Ye to Congress ka post hai," while another user @Raviteja1234_ expressed concern, stating, "Pagal Aurat delete kar jaldi Career khatam ho jayega."
Speculation arose among users that Vastrakar might claim her account was hacked, drawing parallels to previous incidents where Congress leaders distanced themselves from controversial remarks attributed to them. One user, @Mogemmbo, suggested, "Pooja: Mere account ka access kai logo ke paas hai, jo log mujhe jaante wo samjhte hain ki main aisi post kar hi nahin sakti."
Subsequently, she addressed the issue by posting another story on Instagram, stating, "Hi. It has come to my notice that a highly objectionable image was posted from my Instagram account. This happened at a time when my phone was not in my possession. I have nothing but the utmost respect for the honourable Prime Minister and sincerely apologize for the hurt this has caused."
Vastrakar, an all-rounder playing for Madhya Pradesh and India, made her international debut in 2018 against South Africa.
