New Delhi: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) Chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Wednesday took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a tweet and targeted him over one of his remarks.

Popular news agency Press Trust of India (PTI) had on Wednesday reported that the Prime Minister had recently remarked the country has come a long way from releasing pigeons to releasing Cheetahs.

The news was also shared on the official Twitter handle of the PTI. “Country has come a long way, earlier we used to release pigeons, now we release cheetahs: PM Modi” the tweet read.

Replying to the PTI’s tweet, Asaduddin Owaisi took a dig at the Prime Minister’s remark and added that the country has come a long way and it releases Cheetahs and Rapists from the earlier trend of releasing pigeons.

“And rapists...” Owaisi said in his reply taking a hinted dig at the government’s move to release the rapists of Bilkis Bano of Gujarat, a move that has triggered controversy nationwide with the political circle of the country remains divided on their opinion over the release of the rapists.

While the fringe right-wing groups welcomed the move and felicitated the rape accused on their release, a few Centre and left parties have remained tight-lipped over the matter. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Chief and Delhi CM Manish Sisodia were also slammed by several social media users for maintaining silence over the critical issue ahead of the Gujarat Assembly polls.

Dhanbad (Jharkhand) (PTI): At least four workers died after being buried under coal slurry in Jharkhand's Dhanbad district on Saturday, a police official said.

The incident took place at Moonidih coal washery in the command area of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL).

"Bodies of all four workers were dug out of debris during a rescue operation," Putki police station in-charge Waqar Hussain told PTI.

The incident took place when coal slurry was being loaded into trucks by workers, during which a large chunk of slurry fell and trapped several workers underneath, officials said.

The deceased have been identified as Manik Bauri, Dinesh Bauri, Deepak Bauri, and Hemlal Gope.

Meanwhile, the family members of the deceased and local villagers placed the bodies in front of the washery gate and began a protest.

They demanded compensation, jobs for dependents and action against those responsible for the incident.

Police and administration officials are trying to pacify the protesters, an official said.
