New Delhi: Samajwadi Party founder and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Mulayam Singh Yadav, passed away on Monday aged 82, opening the floodgates of condolences from politicians across party lines.

Several politicians across parties condoled the death of Mulayam Singh and termed it a loss for Indian politics.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also condoled the passing away of Mulayam Singh and posted three tweets recalling his relationship and rapport with the departed leader. He also added that he was pained at the demise of the former UP CM.

However, what caught the eye of several Twitter users was eight pictures PM Modi shared of himself with Mulayam Singh from different occasions. Several users took note of the pictures shared by PM Modi and went on to call out how he was using the occasion of a leader’s demise to share his pictures with himself.

Noted columnist at Gulf News and Prof of Professor of Peace and Conflict Research at Uppsala University Ashok Swain also tweeted “Modi has put 3 tweets about Mulayam Singh Yadav. In these 3 tweets, there are 8 photos of Modi.”

Dhanbad (Jharkhand) (PTI): At least four workers died after being buried under coal slurry in Jharkhand's Dhanbad district on Saturday, a police official said.

The incident took place at Moonidih coal washery in the command area of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL).

"Bodies of all four workers were dug out of debris during a rescue operation," Putki police station in-charge Waqar Hussain told PTI.

The incident took place when coal slurry was being loaded into trucks by workers, during which a large chunk of slurry fell and trapped several workers underneath, officials said.

The deceased have been identified as Manik Bauri, Dinesh Bauri, Deepak Bauri, and Hemlal Gope.

Meanwhile, the family members of the deceased and local villagers placed the bodies in front of the washery gate and began a protest.

They demanded compensation, jobs for dependents and action against those responsible for the incident.

Police and administration officials are trying to pacify the protesters, an official said.
