Bengaluru: A video depicting the slaughter of a cow on a BJP flag has been circulating on social media platforms with a false claim that it occurred in Karnataka following the Congress party's victory. However, after conducting a thorough fact-check, it has been determined that the incident took place in Manipur in 2022. The misleading claim has caused confusion and misinformation among netizens.

The video, which has garnered significant attention and shares, was wrongly associated with the recent political developments in Karnataka. The claim suggested that the incident occurred as a reaction to the Congress party's win in the state. However, this claim has been debunked as false.

In reality, the incident captured in the video occurred in Manipur in 2022, and not in the context of any political event in Karnataka. At that time, three individuals were arrested in Manipur in connection with the act of cow slaughter shown in the video.

Fact-checkers and independent verification sources have confirmed that the video's location and timing do not align with the misleading claim and the video is being widely circulated to create a communal divide in the region in the wake of Congress' sweeping victory in the Karnataka Assembly polls.
