BCCI gives Kohli break from bio-bubble before third T20I against WI, batter to skip Lanka T20Is
New Delhi (PTI): The BCCI has given senior batter Virat Kohli a 10-day break from the Indian team's bio-bubble as he left for home before the third T20 International against the West Indies scheduled in Kolkata on Sunday.
As reported by PTI on Friday, Kohli will not be playing in the three-match T20 series against Sri Lanka beginning on February 24 in Lucknow followed by two more games at Dharamsala on February 26 and 27.
"Yes, Kohli has left home on Saturday morning as India have already won the series. As it has been decided by BCCI, it will be a policy to give all the regular all format players periodic breaks from the bubble to ensure that their workload management and mental health is taken care of," a senior BCCI official privy to the development told PTI on the condition of anonymity.
The Indian team for the Sri Lanka series will be picked later in the day.

New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani condemns US-Israel strike on Iran, calls it “catastrophic escalation”
New York: New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani on Saturday described the US- and Israel-led strikes on Iran as a “catastrophic escalation.”
Condemning the military action in a post on X, he wrote, “Today’s military strikes on Iran — carried out by the United States and Israel — mark a catastrophic escalation in an illegal war of aggression. Bombing cities. Killing civilians. Opening a new theater of war.”
Stating that Americans do not want war, he further wrote, “Americans do not want this. They do not want another war in pursuit of regime change. They want relief from the affordability crisis. They want peace.”
Addressing safety concerns in New York City amid the escalation, the mayor said steps were being taken to protect residents. “I am focused on making sure that every New Yorker is safe. I have been in contact with our Police Commissioner and emergency management officials. We are taking proactive steps, including increasing coordination across agencies and enhancing patrols of sensitive locations out of an abundance of caution,” he said.
Mamdani also directly addressed Iranian New Yorkers, assuring them of protection. “Additionally, I want to speak directly to Iranian New Yorkers: you are part of the fabric of this city — you are our neighbors, small business owners, students, artists, workers, and community leaders. You will be safe here,” he added.
