Huballi: Bhatkal Sport’s Academy’s Bhatkal Cricket Club on Feb 10, defeated Tanaji Sports Club comfortably, in the final match of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA)Huballi Division’s, Division 4 tournament here in Huballi.

With the win, Bhatkal CC will now play Division 3 tournament later this year, which is now touted to be a big boost to the town’s cricket future as this can in future pave way for the local youngsters to play at higher level of cricket, a long due dream of the people of coastal town.

This is the first time a team from Bhatlal has won a KSCA Divsion Tournament.

The owner of the team, Waseem KM, while speaking to Varthabharati over a phone call, said “It is a major victory, I believe this will prove to be the stepping stone for our youngster in the cricketing world. We will now play in Div 3, in October this year, while a new team of us will play in Div 4 as well”.

In the finals Bhatkal CC while batting first scored 126-9 in their 30 overs, and then bundled out Tanaji SC to 74-10 in 22.3 overs.

The team led by Naseem Asarmatta of Lion sports club of Bhatkal remained unbeaten throughout the tournament.

Bengaluru, Oct 24: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday announced an ex-gratia of Rs two lakh from Prime Minister's National Relief Fund to the next of kin of each deceased in the building collapse here.

Taking to 'X', office of the Prime Minister of India (PMO India) posted: "Anguished by the loss of lives due to the collapse of a building in Bengaluru. My thoughts are with all those who have lost their loved ones. I pray that the injured recover soon"

"An ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakhs from PMNRF would be provided to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given Rs 50,000: PM @narendramodi," it stated.

Eight persons were killed and 13 rescued after an under-construction building collapsed at Babusapalya near Hennur on Tuesday.

The building owner, his son and contractor have been arrested in connection with the incident, police said.
