CWG 2022: Weightlifter Mirabai Chanu breaks own CWG record to win gold in women's 49 kg
India’s weightlifting icon Mirabai Chanu claimed India’s first gold medal at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games with a dominant performance in the 49 Kg women’s weightlifting event.
In a remarkable performance, Chanu smashed the Commonwealth and CWG record in snatch.
The Olympic silver medallist obliterated the Games record in clean and jerk as well as total lift.
The former world champion ended with a total lift of 201kg (88kg+113kg), which is far from her personal best.
She equalled her national record lift of 88kg in the snatch section.
With this Chanu added a third CWG medal to her kitty, having won silver and gold in the Glasgow and Gold Coast editions respectively.

Karnataka Examinations Authority publishes syllabus for CET 2025
Bengaluru: The Karnataka Examinations Authority has released the syllabus for the Common Entrance Test (CET) to be conducted in 2025 for admission to professional courses including engineering, on its website https://cetonline.karnataka.gov.in/kea/.
Executive Director of KEA, H. Prasanna on Saturday issued a notification, advising students to use the syllabus for Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology from both First and Second PUC as outlined on the portal.
"This syllabus has been prepared based on the NCRTC syllabus and the textbooks published by the School Education, PUE Department," the announcement read. Furthermore, H. Prasanna explained that it has also been reviewed by subject experts from PU colleges.
