IPL 2024: Sunrisers Hyderabad beat DC by 67 runs
New Delhi, Apr 20: Travis Head's aggressive fifty and bowlers' determination helped Sunrisers Hyderabad score a fine 67-run victory over Delhi Capitals in their IPL match here on Saturday.
Chasing a massive 267 run for win, Delhi were in the hunt initially through Jake Fraser-McGurk (65, 18b, 5x4, 7x6) and Abhishek Porel (42, 22b, 7x4, 1x6).
But once both of them were dismissed, Delhi's chase too fizzled out as SRH bowlers struck regularly to push the asking rate near the realm of impossibility.
Pacer T Natarajan bagged four wickets while leg-spinner Mayank Markande picked up two wickets for SRH.
Earlier, Head shone yet again as SRH notched up an imposing 266 for seven. They scored 125 runs without loss in power play, a record in the IPL.
Head smashed a 32-ball 89 (11x4, 6x6) while Abhishek Sharma clobbered 46 off 12 balls.
Shahbaz Ahmed then scored an unbeaten 59 (29 balls) to give SRH another massive total to defend.
Spinner Kuldeep Yadav took four wickets for DC.

Ranchi: Temple guard bludgeoned to death during robbery attempt, 3 held
Ranchi (PTI): A 60-year-old security guard of a temple in Ranchi was bludgeoned to death with a stone during a robbery attempt, police said on Saturday.
The incident happened late on Thursday at the Jagannath Temple in the Dhurwa Smart City area, they said.
"Three persons were arrested on Friday for killing the security guard. They confessed to the crime and told police that the victim had identified them. Therefore, in fear of being caught, they killed him by attacking him with a stone on his head," SSP Rakesh Ranjan said.
"Thereafter, they took money from the donation box and fled the scene. Two of them have criminal antecedents," he added.
Ranjan said the investigators recovered Rs 3 lakh in cash that had been robbed, the stone with blood-stained marks, and the iron rod used to break open the lock of the donation box kept there.
An FIR in this regard was lodged at the Dhurwa police station, he said, adding that the accused were sent to judicial custody by a court.
