Maguire, Alli take England to FIFA World Cup semis
Samara (Russia), July 7: England broke a 28-year-old jinx as they entered the semi-finals of the FIFA World Cup, defeating Sweden 2-0 in a quarter-final match at the Samara Arena here on Saturday.
Harry Maguire (30th minute) drew the first blood and Dele Alli (58th) extended the lead for England, who have not been at this stage of the World Cup for 12 years.

Explosion heard over Dubai airport followed by cloud of smoke
Dubai: An explosion was heard over Dubai International Airport on Saturday, followed by a cloud of smoke in the air, according to a witness who spoke to AFP, as Iran continued attacks across the Gulf region.
The flight-tracking website Flightradar24 showed several aircraft circling above the airport in what appeared to be a holding pattern.
Meanwhile, the Dubai Media Office said in a post on X that there had been “a minor incident resulting from the fall of debris after an interception.”
In the same post, authorities also denied reports circulating online about a direct strike on the airport.
Further details about the incident were not immediately available.
