Birmingham: India posted 314 runs for the loss of 9 wickets against Bangladesh in the World Cup encounter at Edgbaston cricket ground in Birmingham on Tuesday here.
India started off well with Rohit Sharma scoring his fourth century of the tournament while fellow opener KL Rahul also contributing with 77 runs. The duo put on a 180 run opening stand in 30 overs, highest of the tournament so far to lay foundation for a formidable total for the team.
En route his ton, that had seven fours and five sixes, Rohit also equalled Kumar Sangakkara's record of four tons in a single edition of the World Cup, having already registered scores of 122 not out (vs South Africa), 140 (vs Pakistan) and 102 (vs England) in earlier games.
However, loss of wickets at regular intervals meant the Bangladesh made sure the men in blue do not run away with the match in the first inning.
Rishabh Pant played a valuable knock of 48 runs to lift the score on board a bit. Dhoni scored 35 off 33 overs and departed in the final over of the match.
For Bangladesh Mustafizur Rahman turned out to be the best bowler and retuned with the figures of 5-59 runs, while Shakib Al Hassan, Rubel Hossain and Soumya Sarkar bagged 1 wickets each.

Davanagere: A bomb threat email received at the District Court in the city’s Devaraj Arasu area on Monday morning triggered panic and a full-scale security check of the court premises.
According to police, the threat message was received on the official email ID of the District Court at around 8.30 am. Following this, the bomb disposal squad and dog squad rushed to the spot and conducted a thorough inspection of the entire court complex.
After detailed checks, officials confirmed that no explosive materials were found and declared the threat to be a hoax.
Police have launched an investigation to trace the origin of the email and identify the sender.
As a preventative measure, security has been tightened at key government offices and important buildings in the city, including the District Court complex.
