Robert Saldanha appointed new President of Merchant Football Club
Robert Saldanha was on Monday elected as the new President of Merchant Football Club, in a meeting held at Ocean Pearl Hotel here in the city.
Mr. Basheer was also elected as the football coach of the club during the event.
Abdullah, former footballer of the club also presented a token of appreciation to Robert Saldanha after his election as the President.
District Football Association President DM Aslam, Committee members and players of Merchants Football Club were also present during the event.

22-year-old rider killed on spot, one grievously injured in head-on collision of bikes in Bidar
Bidar: A 22-year-old rider, Mahesh, died on the spot while another was grievously injured in a head-on collision between motorbikes near Basava Nagar in Bhalki taluk on Saturday night.
The deceased, Mahesh, was a resident of Kuntesirsi village in Bhalki taluk. The second rider, Vivekananda (36), who is a resident of Navadgi village, is being treated at a hospital in Bidar.
Mahesh was reportedly riding from Bhalki to Kuntesirsi when his bike collided head-on with Vivekananda’s bike. Mahesh died on the spot due to the intensity of the collision.
A case has been registered at the Bhalki Town Police Station and the officers are probing the incident.
