New Delhi: Young Mumbai batsman Sarfaraz Khan on Tuesday notched up yet another century in Ranji Trophy after he scored 125 off 155 deliveries at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi against the Delhi Ranji team.
Sarfaraz’s knock came days after the selection committee of the senior men’s Indian team ignored him while it was selecting the Indian team for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, despite the young Mumbai cricketer consistently piling up runs at the domestic level for three consecutive seasons.
Experts of the game had expected the senior selection committee to name Sarfaraz in the Indian Test team for the upcoming series.
After scoring his century on Tuesday, Sarfaraz celebrated with aggression which the Twitter users said showed his pain and feelings. His coach Amol Mazumdar took his hat off to applaud Sarfaraz’s knock while the latter was celebrating on the field.
The knock once again triggered debate across social media platforms with Netizens questioning the move to leave Sarfaraz out of the Test squad despite his consistent run in domestic cricket.
Sarfaraz has a mind-boggling average of 80.47 in first-class cricket and has emerged as one of the best batters of the Ranji Trophy in the last couple of years.
Hundred and counting! 💯
