New Delhi: Head of the Delhi unit of the Congress party Arvinder Singh Lovely resigned from the post on Sunday morning, taking objection to the party leaders forming an alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Singh, in his resignation letter submitted to All India Congress Committee (AICC) National President Mallikarjun Kharge, has said that the Delhi unit was against forming an alliance with the AAP, which was formed with the sole intent of leveling false, fabricated and corruption charges against the Congress.

In spite of this, the Congress leaders had decided to form an alliance with the AAP in Delhi, he added.

Singh had quit the Congress in 2017 and joined the BJP, but returned to the Congress within four months.

He was appointed as the president of the Delhi unit of the Congress in 2023, in place of Anil Chaudary.
