Guadalajara (Mexico): Punjab’s Anjum Moudgil won her first International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup medal by bagging silver in the Women's 50m Rifle 3 Positions (3P) event here.
On a windy day, Anjum performed brilliantly to register a score of 454.2 here on Thursday. She finished behind China's Ruijiao Pei who produced a score of 455.4 after the 45-shot final.
This was India's eighth medal of the competition and the first silver after having taken three gold and four bronze medals already, for their best ISSF World Cup performance by far, till date.
Anjum remained in medal contention from the beginning of the final and at the end of the 15-shot kneeling position stood third behind Ruijiao and Slovakia's Ziva Dvorsak.

Kasaragod: More than five shops in Perla town, including a cloth store and an automobile showroom, were gutted in a major fire accident that occurred at around midnight on Saturday.
Five fire tenders were called from Uppala town of Kasaragod district and the fire brigade successfully doused the flames after more than three hours of continuous efforts. The locals were seen helping the fire brigade in preventing further damage in Perla.
The fire is suspected to have broken out due to a short circuit in the power line in the area.
‘Pooja Fancy’, ‘Gopinath Pai Cloth Centre’, ‘Praveen Automobiles’, ‘Saadath Store’, ‘Gautham Cold House’ and a journal distribution shop are among the shops destroyed in the fire.
