Deepak Lather wins Bronze medal in Men’s 69 kg weightlifting

Lather won three medals for India, as he struck gold in 69 kg category, along with a bronze in senior’s men section, with a total weight of 295 kg (138kg +157kg)

The 18 year old CWG debutant came into the limelight with national record at the age of 15 in 2000 and is quite the hopeful for team india this year.

 Deepak Lather lifted a total weight of 295 kg, 136 kg in Snatch and 159 kg in Clean and Jerk, to earn a bronze medal at Commonwealth Games 2018.

Upalokayukta pays surprise visit to Hospet APMC market

inspects facilities, orders officers to seize scales

Vijayanagara: Upalokayukta B Veerappa paid a surprise visit to the market of the Agriculture Produce Market Committee (APMC) in Hospet early Friday morning for an inspection of the facilities provided at the place.

The senior government officer spoke to the farmers, who informed the Upalokayukta that the market had neither drinking water facilities nor a place for farmers to rest. Also, the market lacked hygiene, the farmers told Veerappa.

The Upalokayukta has directed APMC Secretary Siddayyaswamy to find solutions to the problems faced by the farmers at the government market.

He has also said that people have complained regarding the scales used at the APMC office. Farmers have said that they did not receive a fair price for the crops that they sell at the government market but have witnessed a 2-kg difference in the measurement by the use of the scales at the APMC market.

The Upalokayukta has directed Amrit Chauhan, the officer in charge of the weights and measures at the APMC market, to seize the scales at the market and register a case in the matter.
