Explosions reported in Iran’s Bandar Abbas as Tehran launches new missiles toward Israel
Tehran: Massive explosions were reported in Iran’s southern port city of Bandar Abbas on Thursday. The blasts occurred near Bandar-e Bahonar in the First Naval Zone of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, close to the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
Iran also reported a fresh wave of strikes beginning around midnight with loud explosions in eastern Tehran. Shockwaves were felt across parts of the capital, though the exact targets were not immediately clear, according to a report published by The Sunday Guardian.
Overnight strikes were also reported in the Kurdish cities of Sanandaj, Saqqez and Bukan. Iranian authorities have confirmed more than 150 cities across the country have been attacked since Saturday.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said it had launched a 19th wave of retaliatory attacks targeting Israel and US bases in the region, according to a report by Al Jazeera.
Iran launched a new round of missiles toward Israel on Thursday, according to the Israeli military and Iranian state media. Air raid alerts were issued in several areas including Tel Aviv. There were no immediate reports of casualties.
“The Israeli Air Force has identified missiles launched from Iran toward the territory of the State of Israel,” the military said, adding that air defence systems were operating to intercept the threat.
Iran’s state broadcaster Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting also confirmed the missile launches.

Mangaluru: Six drug peddlers arrested in Pandeshwar, Bunder limits; narcotics seized
Mangaluru: Police have arrested six drug peddlers for allegedly selling banned narcotic substances in the Pandeshwar and Bunder police station limits of the city.
Pandeshwar police arrested four accused and seized 53.87 grams of MDMA, 103.02 grams of hydro weed ganja and a vehicle from them. The arrested have been identified as Syed Afridi (26) and Ahmed Ali Arshan (22), originally from Udupi district and currently residing in Pandeshwar, along with Maksood Saag (23) of Balmatta in the city and Felix P. Joseph (20) from Kottayam in Kerala.
In a separate operation, Bunder police arrested Edal Rose (33) of Kankanady and Aaron Vishal Lasrado (18) of Kadri Mallikatte. Police seized 60 grams of hydro weed ganja, 1.155 kg of ganja and a car from their possession.
According to police, the arrests were made following a raid conducted on March 4 at a lodge on Badria Road in Bunder and near Green Park grounds after receiving information that narcotic substances were being sold to college students and women.
Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy said that a man identified as Sandeep Shetty, a resident of Mumbai who works as a manager at a hotel in Dubai, was allegedly involved in transporting ganja to Bengaluru by flight. From Bengaluru, Edal Rose was reportedly assigned to distribute the narcotic substances further, he added.
