Marsh Harbour, Sep 7: The death toll from Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas has risen to 43, media outlets said late Friday, and was expected to grow "significantly." US network CNN and Bahamas newspaper The Tribune cited Health Minister Duane Sands as confirming the new toll, up from 30.

"Forty-three is the official count, many missing and this number is expected to grow significantly," Erica Wells Cox, a spokeswoman for Prime Minister Hubert Minnis, told NBC News.

Belthangady: Police have registered a case under the POCSO Act against a shop owner, identified as Tikka Muhammad Gerukatte, accused of sexually assaulting a girl who used to visit his shop.

The complainant has reportedly said that the shop owner had assaulted the girl on multiple occasions, and also warned her not to divulge the matter anywhere.

While a CCTV camera installed nearby, however, captured scenes of the girl entering and exiting the shop, the accused is known to have shown the footages to his friends to allege that the girl was a thief.

Belthangady Police have registered a case against Muhammad Gerukatte based on a complaint filed by the girl and are investigating the matter.
