New Delhi (PTI): India on Tuesday delivered 21 tonnes of relief materials to Afghanistan as part of its assistance to earthquake-hit people of that country.
Over 1,400 people were killed and more than 2,500 injured in eastern Afghanistan after a 6.0 magnitude quake hit the region late Sunday.
"Indian earthquake assistance reaches Kabul by air," External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said on 'X'.
Twenty one tonnes of relief materials including blankets, tents, hygiene kits, water storage tanks, generators, kitchen utensils, portable water purifiers, sleeping bags, essential medicines, wheelchairs, hand sanitisers, water purification tablets and medical consumables were sent on Tuesday, he said.
"India will continue to monitor the ground situation and send more humanitarian aid over the coming days," the external affairs minister said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said India stands ready to provide all possible humanitarian aid to those affected by the quake in Afghanistan.

Bengaluru (PTI): A 65-year-old woman was allegedly strangled to death, while her 50-year-old male domestic help was found dead by hanging at her house, under Mico Layout police station limits here, police said on Sunday.
As per preliminary inquiry, the domestic help is suspected to have murdered the elderly woman before committing suicide, they said.
The incident came to light when the woman's husband returned from abroad early on Sunday. The woman's 27-year-old daughter was sleeping on the first floor room of the house when the incident happened.
A case has been registered, and investigation is on, police said, adding that they are investigating all angles, including any third party involvement.
Forensics and other technical teams have visited the spot, and autopsy reports will also come, they further said.
