Iranian activist Narges Mohammadi wins 2023 Nobel Peace Prize
Oslo (Norway) (AP): The Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded to imprisoned activist Narges Mohammadi for fighting the oppression of women in Iran.
The chair of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, Berit Reiss-Andersen, announced the prize Friday in Oslo.
The Nobel Prizes carry a cash award of 11 million Swedish kronor (about 1 million). Winners also receive an 18-carat gold medal and diploma at the award ceremonies in December.

22-year-old rider killed on spot, one grievously injured in head-on collision of bikes in Bidar
Bidar: A 22-year-old rider, Mahesh, died on the spot while another was grievously injured in a head-on collision between motorbikes near Basava Nagar in Bhalki taluk on Saturday night.
The deceased, Mahesh, was a resident of Kuntesirsi village in Bhalki taluk. The second rider, Vivekananda (36), who is a resident of Navadgi village, is being treated at a hospital in Bidar.
Mahesh was reportedly riding from Bhalki to Kuntesirsi when his bike collided head-on with Vivekananda’s bike. Mahesh died on the spot due to the intensity of the collision.
A case has been registered at the Bhalki Town Police Station and the officers are probing the incident.
