Trump says Reliance to invest in new Texas oil refinery
New York/Washington, Mar 11 (PTI): US President Donald Trump has said that India’s Reliance Industries will make an investment in a new oil refinery being opened in Texas, thanking the company and "our partners in India" for the deal.
Describing it as a "historic USD 300 billion deal", Trump in a social media post on Tuesday said the project is being enabled by his administration’s "America First agenda”.
He said the deal is "the biggest in the US history" and "a massive win for American workers, energy and the great people of South Texas".
However, there has been no official communication from Reliance Industries on the deal so far.
"Thank you to our partners in India, and their largest privately held energy company, Reliance, for this tremendous investment," Trump said.
Trump said the new refinery at the Port of Brownsville will fuel US markets, strengthen national security, boost American energy production, and generate thousands of jobs.
A press release by America First Refining (AFR) said that it received a nine-figure investment in February from a "global supermajor” at a 10-figure valuation.
AFR said it also "signed a binding 20-year offtake term sheet with the same global supermajor that secures commitments to purchase, process, and distribute American-produced energy exclusively sourced from American shale oil”.
The press release did not mention Reliance Industries or specify the amount it plans to invest in the project.
The company said it plans to break ground on the refinery in the second quarter of 2026.

Directed NCERT to review textbooks of all classes: Centre to SC
New Delhi (PTI): The Centre on Wednesday informed the Supreme Court that it has directed the NCERT to review the textbooks of all classes.
A bench of Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and Vipul M Pancholi said that instead of asking the NCERT to do so, it would have appreciated if the Centre constituted an expert committee to review the curriculum.
The apex court was hearing a suo motu case concerning NCERT's Class 8 social science book, which contained "offending" contents on corruption in the judiciary.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said the government has asked the NCERT to review textbooks of all classes, not just Class eight. He assured the bench that a panel of domain experts would be constituted to examine the curriculum.

"We have started systemic changes," he told the bench, adding that nothing will be published without being vetted by the domain experts.
Mehta also informed the bench that the NCERT director has filed an affidavit tendering an unconditional and unqualified apology.
On February 26, the apex court imposed a "complete blanket ban" on any further publication, reprinting or digital dissemination of NCERT's Class 8 social science book as it contains "offending" contents on corruption in the judiciary, saying they have fired a gunshot and the judiciary is "bleeding".
Observing that there appeared to be a "deep-rooted conspiracy" and "calculated move" to undermine the institution and demean the dignity of the judiciary, the apex court had directed that all copies of the book currently in circulation be immediately seized and removed from public access without any delay.
