Vladimir Putin tells Kim wants to support 'positive' efforts on Korean peninsula
Vladivostok: Russian President Vladimir Putin told North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on Thursday that he supports ongoing efforts to ease tensions on the Korean peninsula and wants to boost economic ties.
"I am confident that your visit today to Russia ... will help us to better understand how we can resolve the situation on the Korean peninsula and what Russia can do to support the positive processes that are currently taking place," Putin said as the two began their first-ever talks in Russia's Far East.
"In terms of bilateral relations, we have a lot to do to develop economic relations," Putin added. (AFP)

US Consulate in Dubai reportedly attacked
Dubai: Smoke was seen rising from an area near the United States Consulate in Dubai, according to witness accounts cited by Reuters.
There was no immediate official confirmation on the extent of damage or whether there were any casualties in the incident.
Earlier, the US embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia’s capital, was also attacked. Authorities reported damage to the premises, but no casualties were recorded.
The developments come amid heightened tensions in the region, with Iran continuing to target US interests in the Middle East following deadly attacks launched on Saturday by Israel and the United States.
