EU launches retaliatory tariffs on US goods

The European Union (EU) on Friday launched tariffs on some $3.2 billion worth of American goods, in retaliation for tariffs US President Donald Trump's administration imposed on imported steel and aluminium earlier this month.

Turkey hits US with retaliatory tariffs

Turkey on Thursday became the latest country to hit back at the US for its tariffs on steel and aluminium.

Turkey's Ministry of Economy said that it was imposing tariffs worth $267 million on US goods, targeting items like coal, paper, walnuts, tobacco, rice, whiskey and cars after negotiations with Washington failed to yield meaningful progress, CNN reported.

VC fund CEO dies after smartphone explodes while charging

In another tragic incident caused by smartphones, Cradle Fund CEO Nazrin Hassan died after one of his phones exploded while charging. Cradle Fund is owned by the Malaysian Ministry of Finance. Hassan was using BlackBerry and Huawei smartphones. Both the smartphones were kept on charging in Hassan’s bedroom. The explosion led to a fire on the mattress in the room and the impact was so devastating that it was difficult to identify as to which of the two smartphones actually exploded due to overheating.
