The Supreme Court has asked the Kamal Nath government in Madhya Pradesh to give by Wednesday its response to former chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's plea seeking a direction for an immediate floor test in the assembly.

A doctor who had treated a Coronavirus-infected man who died in Kalaburagi last week has tested positive for COVID-19, officials said here on Tuesday.

 A 64-year-old man from Mumbai with a travel history to Dubai on Tuesday became the first victim of novel coronavirus infection from Maharashtra, which has reported the highest number of COVID-19 cases in the country, a senior civic official said.

The number of novel coronavirus cases in the country rose to 125 on Tuesday after fresh cases were reported from several states.

Mangaluru: Consultant Physician at Spandana Centre for Metabolic Medicine, Dr. Srinivas Kakkilaya in a Facebook post predicted that the Coronavirus cases are like to increase substantially over the next 3 – 6 weeks and will reach stage 3 and 4 despite best efforts to contain the infected persons and their contacts.

 Two more persons tested positive for COVID-19 late last night, taking the number of infected cases to 10 in Karnataka, Health Department officials said on Tuesday.

 In an incident reported from Bengaluru, Karnataka Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Eshwarappa's house caught fire on late Monday night due to short circuit here. Reports added that the minister and his wife escaped unhurt in the incident.

Former Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi, who headed benches that pronounced several key judgements including in the sensitive Ayodhya land dispute case, was on Monday nominated to Rajya Sabha by the government.
