Floods being declared ‘national disaster’ would solve problem?

Kerala has been witness to the most devastating floods of the century. The last two weeks have been massive testing times for the ‘god’s own country’ with more than 300 declared dead and lakhs of people being displaced owing to torrential rains and gushing waters. PM Modi visited Kerala on Sunday for an aerial survey of the affected places and declared Rs 500 crore as interim relief. The ruling party, the opposition and the government of Kerala have together requested this to be declared a national disaster. There has been widespread support to this in social media too.

This Actor Postponed Wedding To Help Rescue People In Flood-Hit Kerala

Malayalam actor Rajeev Pillai, who co-stars with Richa Chadha in upcoming film Shakeela, postponed his wedding to help rescue the locals in his hometown Nannoor in flood-hit Kerala. Richa Chadha, impressed with Rajeev's determination to help his people shared his story on Instagram. "My friend and costar in Shakeela, Rajeev Pillai, postponed his wedding, which was to happen three days ago, in order to help out in rescue efforts in his hometown of Nannoor , Kerala. They made rafts, carried boats by road to the low lying areas, made good use of all the muscle. Bravo!" she captioned the post, which included pictures of the actor taken during the ongoing rescue mission. The Internet said that he's the 'real hero'.

Man who said Kerala floods affected only rich, a member of BJP IT cell

A Hyderabadi man is facing severe backlash on social media after his appeal on the current situation in Kerala has gone viral. In the two-minute audio message, a person who identifies himself as Suresh Kochattil, claimed that he was stuck in Kochi due to floods when he was trying to reach his village which is an hour's drive from the city.

Three injured in London tube station shooting

Three persons have been injured in a shooting incident outside an underground station in London, the police said.

"Officers are at the scene of a shooting in #Kingsbury Road on Monday. Not terror related. Three people taken to hospital, none believed to be life-threatening," London Metropolitan Police said on its Twitter account, Xinhua news agency reported.
