A civilian was killed and two others injured in clashes between the security forces and protesters following an anti-terror operation that killed five militants in Jammu and Kashmir Shopian district on Saturday.

In yet another case of mob lynching in the country, one man was beaten to death in Haryana's Palwal district on suspicion of cattle theft.

The incident took place in Behrola village on the intervening night of August 2 and 3.

Goa temple molestation: Court rejects priest's anticipatory bail

 A court here on Saturday, rejected two anticipatory bail applications filed by a priest at Goa's Mangeshi temple in a molestation case.

A senior police officer said, that the accused, Dhananjay Bhave, could not be traced after the n Additional District and Sessions Court in Ponda cancelled the applications of the priest, who has been booked for allegedly molesting two women in June.

Assam's Only Woman Chief Minister's Name Missing From Citizens' Register

The name of Assam's lone woman chief minister Syeda Anowara Taimur, who is residing in Australia, is missing from the NRC and she plans to return home to initiate the process of enlisting herself and her family in the register of citizens of the state.

''It is sad that my name is not there in the list. I will return to Assam in the last week of August and then initiate the process to get mine and my family's name enlisted in the National Register of Citizens (NRC)," the octogenarian told a television channel.

The President signed the warrants of appointment of Justice Joseph, Madras High Court Chief Justice Indira Banerjee and Orissa High Court Chief Justice Vineet Saran.

Passenger tries to enter Air India flight cockpit, detained

National carrier Air India on Saturday said that its Milan-Delhi flight earlier this week had to return to the Italian city after a passenger tried to enter the cockpit.

The incident occurred on Thursday morning. According to the airline, the flight was ferrying over 250 passengers and crew members.

Kiki challenge is foolish; quit smoking, alcohol instead: Goa Police

In an advisory issued on Saturday, the Goa Police traffic cell warned drivers against mimicking the Kiki challenge which has gone viral on social media, calling the act "highly dangerous" and instead implored people to take up the challenge to quit alcohol and smoking.
