A 34-year-old dalit woman was killed after she was allegedly raped at Dighi Purvi village under Sadar police station of Bihar's Vaishali district today.

Biting cold persisted in most parts of Himachal Pradesh even as the state witnessed a dry and sunny day and day temperatures rose marginally.

Police have arrested two persons in connection with the rape and murder of a teenager in village Chandpur on January 2.

The Police here have arrested the Moodigere town unit BJP Yuva Morcha President M V Anil on the charges of instigating the suicide of Dhanya (20), a first year B.Com student of a first grade college in the town. Dhanya had ended her life on January 6, Saturday. Incidentally, the accused is said to be an influential man who is also known to Mysuru- Kodagu MP Pratap Sinha and MLA C T Ravi.

A complaint has been lodged with the Gujarat police charging Teesta Setalvad and her NGO Sabrang Trust with trying to "mix religion with politics" and spreading disharmony through the curricular material prepared for the erstwhile UPA government which had given it a grant of about Rs 1.4 crore.
