KOLKATA: The brother of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Prahalad Modi, has rendered his support to All India Trinamool Congress (AITMC) in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Prahlad who is the President of the Fair Price Shop Owners Federation has extended Federation's support for AITMC for the Lok Sabha polls scheduled for the next year.

The announcement came during a meeting held at the Rabindra Bhawan at Dumdum organised to discuss the Khadya Sathee Scheme of the West Bengal government.

State minister for food Jyotipriyo Mallick and the MP of Dumdum Sougata Roy were also present at the meeting.

The secretary of the Fair Price Shop Owners Federation, Biswambhar Basu, said that the members will directly start anti-Narendra Modi campaign throughout the nation for the general elections. He further declared that the Federation will support AITMC to outwit the BJP government.

The Fair Price Shop Owners Federation will shortly visit Varanasi to launch an anti-NaMo campaign and Prahlad Modi will also be present during the session.

The Federation also plans to felicitate chief minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee for the success of the Khadyo Sathee scheme.

Mumbai (PTI): A fire broke out at a commercial structure in Mumbai, damaging around 10 shops, officials said on Sunday.

There were no casualties in the blaze, which was reported at 11.31 pm on Saturday on D B Marg opposite a mall in the Mumbai Central area, they said.

The fire was confined to electric wiring, installations and equipment in around five large and seven small shops spread over nearly 5,000 sq ft on the ground and first floors of the structure, a civic official said.

Firefighters doused the blaze by 3.50 am on Sunday, the official said.

The cause of the fire was not yet known.
