'Medical seats can't remain vacant': SC asks Centre to hold talks with stakeholders

Seats in medical courses cannot remain vacant, the Supreme Court on Friday said and asked the Centre to hold a meeting with the relevant stakeholders, including the states, and consider the recommendations of a committee appointed over the issue.


Govt cuts gas allocation for LPG, diverts to city gas retailers

The government has slashed allocation of natural gas used for LPG production, and diverted the low-priced fuel to city gas retailers like Indraprastha Gas Ltd and Adani-Total Gas Ltd to meet a part of their requirement for CNG/piped cooking gas supplies, according an official order.

2024 recorded as India's warmest year since 1901: IMD

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) confirmed on Wednesday that 2024 was the warmest year on record in India since 1901, with an annual mean temperature of 25.75°C, exceeding the long-term average (1991-2020) by 0.65°C. The previous record, set in 2016, had an anomaly of 0.54°C, making the temperature increase in 2024 significantly notable.
