The Supreme Court on Monday said there cannot be any "blanket ban" on holding protests at Delhi's historic Jantar Mantar located at the periphery of Parliament Street and the Boat Club on Rajpath.

Child lifting rumours claimed yet another life, this time in Madhya Pradesh. A 25-year-old mentally challenged woman was allegedly lynched by a mob in Morwa region of Singrauli district late on Saturday on suspicion of being a child lifter. Over 30 people have been killed in different incidents across the country over child lifting rumours over the past two months.

“My son Akbar Khan was a milkman, not a smuggler. He reared two cows with much love and even stayed hungry at times to buy fodder. He would have never thought of dying with such shame,” an inconsolable Suleiman Khan said at their village, Kolgaon in Ferozepur Jhirka tehsil.
