Kundapur, June 16: In a tragic road accident, a 24-year-old biker lost his life on the spot after his motorcycle collided head-on with a private bus near Mallari curve at Nempakenchanur on the main Kollur road on Monday afternoon.

The deceased has been identified as Sharath (24), a resident of Sigandur. According to reports, Sharath was travelling from Vandse towards Hemmadi when his bike crashed into the Shree Durgamba bus that was approaching from the opposite direction.

The impact was severe, throwing Sharath onto the road along with his motorcycle. He sustained critical injuries and died on the spot, as per the initial reports from the scene.

Due to the intensity of the collision, the bike was heavily damaged. Petrol spilled onto the radiator, leading to the vehicle catching fire. The bike was partially burnt before the fire was brought under control.

Shankaranarayana Circle Inspector Jayaram D. Gowda and Kundapur Traffic Police PSI Prasad Kumar visited the accident site and inspected the situation.

A case has been registered at the Kundapur Traffic Police Station, and further investigation is underway.

Bengaluru: A 34-year-old man from Dakshina Kannada’s Bantwal taluk died in a road accident near Kudlu gate in the city on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Muhammad Haris (34), a resident of Allipade near Ajilamogaru in Bantwal taluk.

Harris worked as a mechanic at a private AC company in Bengaluru and got married six months ago.

The incident reportedly occurred when Haris was riding a bike to work along with a colleague, when a goods vehicle allegedly rammed the bike from behind.

Haris reportedly succumbed to his injuries at the stop. His colleague, an Odisha native who was riding pillion, sustained serious injuries and has been admitted to the hospital.

Haris’ body is at the mortuary of St. John’s Hospital, Koramangala, and will be sent to his hometown after the postmortem.

HSR layout traffic police have registered a case.
