Malpe: 12-year-old boy rescued from drowning
Udupi (Karnataka), Apr 30: A 12-year-old boy from Chikkaballapur city was rescued from drowning at the Vadabendeshwara beach on the Malpe Sea coast on Tuesday, police said.
The lifeguards on duty spotted Shreyas sinking and crying for help. They launched the jet ski vehicle and rescued him from drowning.

The boy was later taken to the hospital where he was treated for exhaustion and was discharged within a few hours. The family has left for their hometown, a senior police official said.
According to the lifeguards, despite the district administration and police putting up warning signboards, the visitors get into the sea and get caught in the waves.

17-year-old PUC student in Shivamogga drowns while swimming in River Tunga
Shivamogga: A 17-year-old student from Kamakshi Street in the city, Prem Kumar, died of drowning while swimming in River Tunga in Pillangiri village of the taluk recently.
Prem, who was studying in II PUC at DVS College, was visiting the temple in Pillangiri with his friends and got into the river for a swim, when he drowned in the waters of the river.
The youngster’s body has been sent to the mortuary of the McGann Hospital in Shivamogga to conduct a post-mortem examination.
Shivamogga Rural Police visited the spot and held an inspection.
