Mangaluru, July 15: Urban Development and Housing Minister UT Khader said that eligible physically challenged people should make use of the government programmes as the government has been introducing various programmes for their welfare.
Giving away two-wheelers and other equipment to the physically disabled beneficiaries at the zilla panchayat hall here on Sunday, he said that the government has been introducing various programmes to make the physically disabled self-reliant. So, the needy people should get the benefit. Physically disabled should not be deprived of modern technology. In order to help them lead a good life, the government has been giving required equipment like talking laptop, hearing aids and others, he said.
Two-wheelers were distributed to 91 physically disabled, talking laptops to eight visually challenged students, 15 wheelchairs, 50 hearing aids, one braille watch, 10 walkers, three waterbeds, 40 petty shops and others on the occasion.
ZP vice president Kasturi Panja, social justice standing committee president Janardhan, DHO Dr Ramakrishna Rao, woman and child welfare department deputy director Sundara Poojary, district children’s protection officer Usman, Mangaluru taluk panchayat president Muhammad Monu, physically disabled welfare officer Yamuna and others were present.

Bulandshahr (UP) (PTI): Six people, including a woman, were arrested on Thursday for allegedly forging documents and executing a fake sale deed to illegally sell plot worth Rs 78 lakh here, police said.
Urvashi Gupta, a resident of Ghaziabad, lodged a complaint at Kakod police station on December 9, alleging that her land in village Belana, under Kakod police limits, had been fraudulently sold, Additional Superintendent of Police (City) Shankar Prasad said.
According to the complaint, unidentified persons impersonated her and prepared a forged sale deed to sell the property to one Pankaj Jain of Delhi.

During the investigation, police identified eight suspects, of whom six -- Satyendra, Kuldeep and Karmveer of Bulandshahr, Rajkumar of Gautam Buddha Nagar district, and Santosh and Sangeeta Chaudhary of Mathura district -- were arrested.
Prasad said police seized a laptop, a printer, and forged Aadhaar and PAN cards from the accused.
The bank account of the woman involved, holding Rs 17.5 lakh, has been frozen, he added.
