Mangaluru, September 24: Acting on a tip off that explosives are being transported illegally in a two-wheeler, police arrested an accused and recovered the materials worth lakhs at Keddalike in Punjalkatte police station limits on Monday.

The accused is identified as Chinna swamy (70) of Basavanagudi in Punjalkatte. The police have recovered 15 gelatine sticks, 99 detonators and the scooter, total worth Rs 1,05,000 from the accused. SP Ravikanthe Gowda said that the accused and the materials were handed over to the Punjalkatte police for further action.

Operation details

DCIB inspector Sunil Nayak and his team was in rounds at Punjalkatte. At around 11.30 am, he got the information that someone was illegally transporting explosives in a two-wheeler from Nelligudde to Punjalkatte and stopped the vehicle at Keddalike government school and found explosives. The police arrested the accused and recovered the explosives, the SP said.

Under the direction of SP Ravikanthe Gowda and guidance of ASP Sajith, Inspector Sunil Y Nayak, Personnel Narayan, Vasu Nayak, Lakshman, Iqbal, Uday Gowda, Uday Rai, Praveen, Taranath, Shon Shah and Suresh Kumar participated in the operation.

The first round of direct talks between the United States and Iran, held in Islamabad, has concluded, Al Jazeera reported citing sources close to the development.

According to the report, following the discussions, delegations from both sides agreed to exchange written documents, a move aimed at ensuring clarity and consensus on the understandings reached during the meeting.

Both the Iranian and US delegations arrived in Islamabad on Saturday, April 11, amid high security for the peace talks.
