Ullal: The dead body of a 44-year-old man, identified to be Prasad, a resident of Kujumagadde in Kolya under Someshwara Town Municipality, who had gone missing from his house since Friday afternoon, was found on Saturday near his house in a well that was unused and also dried up.
The local fire squad arrived at the spot and got Prasad’s body out of the well. As the deceased man is said to have been in a state of depression the last few days, his death is suspected to be an act of suicide.
Prasad, who was a native of Gordandu in Jeppu, was the eldest son of his parents and is survived by his parents, his two brothers and a sister. The family had shifted to Kolya a few years ago. Prasad was a bachelor and worked as a painter.

Prasad, who was found to have been in low spirits for a few days now, went missing from his house on Friday afternoon. Since he had left his mobile phone at home, the family struggled to contact and find him. The neighbours helped Prasad’s family search for him. The missing man’s body is learned to have been found in the unused well accidentally, as a neighbour looked into the well situated near Prasad’s house in Kolya out of curiosity.
Ullal Police have registered a case and the officers are conducting an investigation. Prasad’s body has been sent for a post-mortem examination.

Ranchi: Champai Soren, a prominent figure in Jharkhand’s statehood movement, is contesting the 2024 assembly elections from Seraikela, a seat he has consistently held since 1991.
However, there is a surprising shift in his political journey this year. Having resigned from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) earlier this year, Soren is now representing the BJP, a move that could significantly impact the electoral dynamics in the state.
Soren’s switiching is seen as a strategic benefit for the saffron party, which has been working to expand its appeal among Jharkhand’s tribal communities, a demographic traditionally aligned with the JMM. His departure from the JMM, led by Shibu Soren and his son Hemant Soren, was fueled by dissatisfaction with the state government’s policies, which he claimed had failed to address tribal concerns.
Also known as "Jharkhand’s Tiger" for his instrumental role in the statehood movement of the 1990s, Champai Soren has respect and influence among tribal voters. His decision to switch the party could be a turning point in the BJP’s efforts to gain a stronger hold in a state where tribal votes often decide the outcome.
