Mangaluru: Taking note of the imposition of section 144 in the city by Police Commissioner, the scheduled protest of SKSSF has been postponed.

Mangaluru: Dr. PS Harsha, Mangaluru City Police Commissioner on Wednesday added that no organisation, political party or other entities will be allowed to organise or hold protests in the city on December 19-20. The Police Commissioner had earlier in the day imposed prohibitory orders under section 144 of CrPC starting 9:00 pm on Wednesday till midnight of December 20.

The orders have been issued in the backdrop of protests and demonstrations planned by various organisations and political parties against the Citizenship Amendment Bill and NRC passed by Central Government.

Kanyana: Two people including a Gram Panchayath member died on the spot after their two-wheeler skidded on the road when the rider lost control over the vehicle on Wednesday. The incident was reported from Kanyana village in Vittal.

Several organisations have planned to stage protests in the city on December 20 and 23 against the controversial Act.
