The City Corporation on Thursday warned the Antony Waste Management Company, which is maintaining the solid waste management in the city, of cancelling the contract if it resorted to protest or boycotted the work under the pretext that it will have to get dues from the corporation.

An alert auto driver saved the life of a boy who slipped into the river and washing away in the water while crossing a small bridge at Bovu in Tannir Panta village in the taluk on Wednesday evening.

Following emergency repair work in Gurupura bridge, the vehicular movement on the bridge is restricted on June 28 from 5 a.m to 10 a.m.

Traffic police who control the vehicular movement had a different task on Wednesday. Braving the heavy rains, the police repaired the road and cleaned drainage to let the rainwater to flow easily.
