Bengaluru, September 6: JNU students leader Umar Khalid said that the central government has been directly supporting various terrorists groups working across the country in different names.

Speaking at a symposium on ‘Save Democracy’ organized by the Welfare Party of India here on Thursday, he said that some forces have been imposing the ideology of nationalism coined by the RSS by defying the very intention of the Constitution in the country. But the country would require the real nationalism. Those who are at the helm of affairs at the centre have been trying to destabilize the democracy. When the youth and farmers question the centre to fulfill their demands, the government has been diverting their attention by bringing cow issue and misleading entire debate, he alleged.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was not raising his concerns over the problems of farmers, women, youth, labourers and students. Now, the rupee value in the international market is decreasing against the dollar. GDP has come down. Prices of petroleum products have increased considerably. But they have been creating illusion among people that the country is developing by bring trivial issues to the fore, he alleged.

By giving false assurances to the voters, Modi has been supporting the corporate companies, Adani and Ambani. BJP national president Amit Shah and his relatives have been witnessing the growth. But they were preaching about nationalism. If the Prime Minister has concerns and respect towards the people and the country, let him respond to the problems, he said.

In Uttar Pradesh where BJP is ruling, thousands of candidates have applied for just 60 assistants posts. Interestingly, those who have completed PhD degree and higher education were in great number and this was the instance of development. On the other side, harassment and exploitation against dalits, backward classes and minorities were increasing in BJP ruling states. They were the real faces of the BJP and its governments, he said.

The forthcoming Lok Sabha election should be the fight between RSS, BJP and Modi, and farmers, farm labourers, students and youth. Otherwise, once again the communal forces would get the power. So, the people should be educated on present issues and Modi’s false promises, he said.

Gujarat MLA Jignesh Mevani said that there was an undeclared emergency in the country. The Modi led NDA government has been conspiring to wipe out the democracy and trying to exhibit Manusmriti as the national epic. They have been trying to destroy the Constitution. Dalits, backward classes and minorities should work together to defeat BJP in the next Lok Sabha election. A systematic strategy should be prepared to defeat the BJP to protect the democracy, he said.

“When we want justice, we go before the court. But now, the situation was created that judges would come before the people. Then how the democracy would survive? Such an incident was happened in India for the first time in the history”.

Superintendent of Police Mayank Awasthi told reporters that accused Priyanka Purohit (25) was married to Dev Krishna when she was around 15 years old. Priyanka moved to her matrimonial home after attaining adulthood but was unwilling to live with her husband, leading to frequent disputes between them.

After Dev Krishna was killed, Priyanka told police that unidentified persons broke into the house, attacked her husband with a sharp weapon while holding her captive in another room, and fled with valuables.
