CM Bommai announces date, time when Puneeth Rajkumar will be awarded ‘Karnataka Ratna’
Only eight people have been conferred Karnataka Ratna, highest civilian award of state since 2009
Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Thursday revealed details of the ‘Karnataka Ratna’ the highest civilian award of the state that will be awarded to late Kannada actor Puneeth Raj Kumar.
Speaking to media reporters in the city, the Chief Minister said Puneeth Rajkumar will be honored with the award posthumously on November 1, at an event that will be held in front of Vidhan Soudha here in the state’s capital.
Only eight people have been conferred with the Karnataka Ratna award since 2009.
“His (Rajkumar) life contributions are immense and have left a mark in the minds of the people. He deserves to be Karnataka Ratna,” Bommai said.
One of the most popular actors in the state, Rajkumar died of cardiac arrest in October last year at the age of 46. He was the youngest of the five children of Dadasaheb Phalke Award winner Dr. Rajkumar.

Dharwad Corporation zonal offices raided after complaints of corruption in issuing land records
Hubballi: Karnataka Lokayukta officials on Friday conducted raids at multiple zonal offices of the Hubballi-Dharwad City Corporation following complaints alleging bribery and delay in issuing land-related documents, including e-Swathu records.
The raids were carried out in the morning under the leadership of Siddalingappa S.T.. Separate teams inspected 12 zonal offices of the Corporation and examined records linked to land ownership and document processing.
According to sources, the Lokayukta received complaints from members of the public alleging that Corporation officials were demanding bribes for issuing e-Swathu and other land documents.
Residents reportedly alleged that applications were being deliberately delayed if bribes were not paid.
Based on these complaints, officials carried out inspections of files and records connected to land ownership and issuance of documents.
Further investigation is underway.
