Bengaluru, July 06: Housing Minister UT Khader said that a survey was being conducted to collect the data of house and sites less people in the state and last date for submitting applications was extended to July 30.
Giving a statement in the Assembly Session here on Friday, the Minister said that the Indira Awas Yojana was changed into the Prime Minister’s Awas Yojana and under this scheme, total 15 lakh house and sites less people were identified in the state.
Officials are responsible
PDOs and village accountants would conduct the survey and identify the house and sites less people and upload the applications to the website. Each application would be given Rs 100. They were strictly instructed not to leave any of the deserving beneficiaries. If the deserving candidates were left out in the survey, then the officials concerned would be held responsible, he warned.
This survey would be conducted under the guidance of the Zilla Panchayat CEO and the taluk panchayat EO. The central government was contributing Rs 72000 and the state government was giving Rs 42000 for the housing scheme. However, under Basava Housing Scheme, Rs 1.20 lakh was being given to the beneficiary, he added.
Housing policy a must
When BJP members Araga Jnanendra, KG Bopaiah and others rose to highlight the problems of the housing schemes, Speaker Ramesh Kumar said that a comprehensive housing policy was the need of the hour. All poor people, irrespective of any political affiliation, should be provided shelter. In the previous government, a committee was constituted and given some guidelines and he was also one of the members in that committee. It was introduced in his Srinivaspura constituency on pilot basis and it was a success. So, if it was extended to the entire state, there would be no housing problem. “As we are in the midst of the people, we should not divide the people on political reasons. Deserving beneficiaries should be identified and reach the government benefits”, he said.

Dhar (MP) (PTI): A 25-year-old woman and her lover have been arrested in the district for allegedly conspiring to kill her husband by hiring a contract killer, police said on Thursday.
The case was solved within 36 hours of the murder though the woman initially tried to mislead the police by claiming that robbers killed her husband, an official said.
Dev Krishna Purohit (28) was stabbed to death on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday at his house in Gondikheda Charan village, about 60 km from here.
Superintendent of Police Mayank Awasthi told reporters that accused Priyanka Purohit (25) was married to Dev Krishna when she was around 15 years old. Priyanka moved to her matrimonial home after attaining adulthood but was unwilling to live with her husband, leading to frequent disputes between them.
During investigation, it emerged that she was in a relationship with Kamlesh (32), the SP said.
The duo allegedly hatched a plan to kill Dev Krishna and hired a man identified as Surendra for Rs 1 lakh do the job, he said
After Dev Krishna was killed, Priyanka told police that unidentified persons broke into the house, attacked her husband with a sharp weapon while holding her captive in another room, and fled with valuables.
But the inconsistencies in her statements raised suspicion, and eventually she confessed to hatching the murder conspiracy, the SP said.
While she and Kamlesh were arrested, police are looking for the contract killer, the official added.
