K'taka HC dismisses former Union Minister Anantkumar Hegde’s plea to quash case of assaulting doctor

 The Karnataka High Court has dismissed a petition filed by former Union Minister and BJP leader Anantkumar Hegde seeking the quashing of a criminal case registered against him for allegedly assaulting a doctor in Uttara Kannada district. With the dismissal of his plea, the interim stay on trial proceedings has also been lifted, paving the way for the case to move forward.


Karnataka reissues 2013 order restricting govt school use, seen as curb on RSS activities

The Congress-led Karnataka government has reissued an old circular originally dated February 7, 2013, which prohibits the use of government school premises for private or non-academic purposes. The move, seen as a precursor to curbing Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) activities in schools, follows a recent request from Minister for RDPR, IT, and BT Priyank Kharge seeking a ban on RSS events in public educational institutions.
