The CBI has arrested six suspects in connection with the killing of BJP taluka panchayat member Yogesh Gowda in Karnataka's Dharwad in 2016, officials said on Monday.

Renowned historian and academician Dr S Shettar died on Friday at a private hospital here where he was undergoing treatment for respiratory problems, family sources said.

Mysuru: Noted Kannada Music Director, Arjun Janya on late Wednesday night suffered minor heart attack and was admitted to Apollo hospital in Mysuru here. He is currently undergoing treatment.

Bengaluru: In a Police encounter reported in the wee hours of Thursday, police shot down a rowdy-sheeter who allegedly tried to escape from the police custody by assaulting police man and firing at them.

Tumkuru: Tumkuru Police on Wednesday arrested Atul Kumar alias Madhugiri Modi for making derogatory remarks against Prophet Mohammed and posting it on social media platforms earlier this month. Atul Kumar was arrested from Azad Nagar area of Anantpur here on Wednesday.

Bengaluru: Former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday evening urged BS Yediyurappa to take action against BJP MLA Basavanagouda Yatnal for his remarks on senior freedom fighter HS Doreswamy adding that if he fails to take action against Yatnal, then Yatnal’s opinion will be considered to be that of the government as well.

Bengaluru: Former Karnataka Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition in Karnataka Assembly, Siddaramaiah on Tuesday asserted that the violence in North East Delhi was unfortunate but not an unexpected one as the BJP leaders and Home Minister Amit Shah were provoking violence openly.
