Minority Dept Chairman Abdul Azeem welcomes state govt's move to abolish Tipu Jayanti celebrations

Bengaluru: Newly appointed Chairman of Karnataka Minority Welfare Department and MLC Abdul Azeem, on Wednesday welcomed state government’s move to stop Tipu Jayanti celebrations in the state and added that worshipping an individual was barred in Islam.

Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Wednesday asserted that the State Government will not allow Tipu Jayanti celebrations in the state. He further added he will take a decision soon on the proposal to remove Tipu Sultan’s history from the textbooks of state syllabus.
