Google admits tracking users on smartphones despite disabled feature

Google has updated a help page for customers of mobile phones to acknowledge that they still can be tracked for using its Search or Maps services, even if they turn off the phone's tracking feature.

Google takes new measures to increase transparency on political ads

Google took a new move Wednesday to increase transparency on political ads on its platform by releasing an online library of US political ads and a report on details of ad-expenditure ahead of the mid-term US elections in November this year.

We don't remove content for being false: Facebook

Owing to severe decline in monthly page visits, from 8.5 billion to 4.7 billion in the last two years, Facebook is set to cede its long-held second position among the top websites in the US to YouTube, according to a new study.

Snapchat's daily user count slips to 188 mn

Snapchat's daily active users number shrank 1.5 per cent to 188 million in the second quarter of 2018 -- down from 191 million in the last quarter, its parent company Snap has said.

Although the company's revenue increased 44 per cent to $262 million -- compared to $182 million revenue in Q2 2017 -- it appears that Facebook-owned Instagram "Stories" has stalled Snapchat's growth.
