New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu while addressing a joint sitting of both Houses of Parliament today spoke on the government's ongoing efforts to ensure peace and stability in the Northeast region.

In her speech, President Murmu highlighted the progress made over the past decade, noting that many long standing conflicts have been resolved and several agreements have been reached. She stated, "The government is working towards repealing the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) in a phased manner in disturbed areas through development."

This is President Murmu's first address to the 18th Lok Sabha.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the Indian Cricket Team for winning the trophy without losing any matches in the tournament.
