Govt issues new guidelines to curb misleading ads; bans surrogate ads

New Delhi, Jun 10: The government on Friday announced new guidelines to curb misleading advertisements and endorsers by banning surrogate ads, while imposing strict norms for those advertisements that seek to lure consumers offering discounts and free claims.

Protests in several places over Prophet remarks; curfew, shutdown in parts of JK

New Delhi/Srinagar: Protests broke out in some states on Friday including outside Delhi's Jama Masjid over the controversial remarks on Prophet Mohammad by two now-suspended BJP functionaries with demonstrators in Jharkhand injuring a few policemen while authorities in Jammu imposed a curfew in few areas and parts of Kashmir observed a shutdown.
