5th std student rescues his friend from falling into stream
Incident happened at Phandije in Belthangady
Belthangady, June 21: With the timely action, a 5th standard student rescued his friend from falling into the flowing stream while crossing it over the foot-bridge at Phandije in Nittade village in the taluk on Thursday evening.
The incident happened when 6th standard student Aditya of Phandije Government Higher Primary School and his friend Sujay studying in the 5th standard were returning home from the school. While crossing the stream on the foot-bridge made out of areca palms, Aditya slipped and started falling into the stream. Noticing this, Sujay tried to rescue him. Sujay caught one of the Uday’s legs and tried to lift him. As Aditya was hanging below the foot-bridge along with his bag and umbrella, Sujay was unable to lift him up. So, Sujay started shouting for help along with Aditya. Hearing their shouting, Jayananda Sate and Adiyta father Rathnakar Hebbar and others rushed to the spot and lifted Aditya up. For more than five minutes, Sujay was holding his friend from falling into the stream and thus rescued him.

Senior BJP leaders meet Fadnavis after Mahayuti's landslide win
Mumbai (PTI): BJP national joint general secretary Shiv Prakash and Maharashtra unit head Chandrashekhar Bawankule on Sunday met Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at his residence here on Sunday.
The BJP-led Mahayuti alliance on Saturday retained power in Maharashtra, pocketing a whopping 230 of the 288 assembly seats.
The focus has now shifted to BJP leader Fadnavis, the architect of his party’s stunning victory as it bagged 132 of the 149 seats it contested in the state.
Political circles are abuzz with reports that the state’s second Brahmin to become the CM will don the post for the third time.
On Sunday, BJP leaders Shiv Prakash and Bawankule arrived at Fadnavis' 'Sagar' bungalow in the Malabar Hill area here to meet him.
The tenure of the current state assembly ends on Tuesday, which has also necessitated meetings among leaders of the ruling allies to finalise the name for the chief minister's post.
